“I am a translator. My purpose is to interpret what you need and to convey difficult concepts. By simplifying the language, I can provide each client a way for us to work equally and more powerfully together to accomplish their goals.” MY GOAL: “To mitigate your pain and stress, and to make sure you won’t pay more taxes than you should.”

About Kaman

Kaman has continuously invested in both her personal and professional growth. Born in Hong Kong, she was a young girl growing up in a traditional Chinese home with 4 sisters and 2 brothers, and recognized early the inequalities her birthright created for her. She was aware, even as a child, that she would have to learn to be powerful, and fight for the opportunities she desired. In a culture that does not support gender equality, Kaman didn’t want to “stay small” just because she was born a girl, and refused to conform to the limited beliefs and traditional conditionings that were placed on her. Her desire to step into life, and use her many gifts underscored the drive that garnered her high personal standards, and professional and personal growth. This drive for equality, and passion for excellence also became the foundations for her business philosophy and core values.

Background & Experience

Kaman earned a business degree from the University of Hong Kong and holds multiple tax and accounting designations in several jurisdictions including Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. She is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA), is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the United States and received her foundational training through one of the world’s leading international accounting bodies, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom.

Kaman Kwok has senior international tax and accounting experience from two of the world’s largest tax consultancies – KPMG LLP and Ernst & Young LLP. Past work history also includes working with the predecessor firm to the world’s largest management and strategic consulting firm, Accenture; and she was controller with a publicly listed company specializing in environmental technology. In addition to her extensive global tax and advisory experience, Kaman has years of experience working at a leading regional cross-border tax boutique, prior to developing her own business.

As the consulting principal and leader for her growing firm, Kaman focuses on helping business owners, corporate shareholders and professionals from both Canada and the US with their personal and corporate cross-border tax compliance and planning needs. Kaman loves her work, and particularly enjoys the interaction and relationships that come from helping individuals and working with all different types of businesses.

Her depth of knowledge goes well beyond the technical understanding — she understands and speaks the language of cross-border taxation. With her extensive knowledge and experience, she can be entrusted to see the importance in her client’s vision, and is passionate about providing clarity to her clients, through strategic solutions.

Trained as a Certified Gender Equality Coach through the Certified Coach Alliance, International Coach Federation, Kaman is passionate about empowering and inspiring women to reach their highest potential, which comes from a place of understanding the additional challenges that women often face, balancing the many roles they hold. However, she brings her expansive energy, lively and courageous attitude and brilliant mind to every client and each situation.

When Kaman takes time away from the office, she enjoys cooking, dancing and travelling, and spending time with her two grown children. As a Certified Gender Equality Coach, she dedicates time to coaching professional women assisting them in visualizing and accomplishing their goals. She also works as a mentor and leader within the CPA mentorship program.

Kaman believes that how you take care of your taxes can sub-consciously be an indication of how you take care of your life in general, reflecting the limiting factor to reaching your highest potential. There is an elephant in the room, and it is the government. There is no upside to fight them. We provide each client a deep and connected relationship, with the support they need to feel safe to claim their rights and responsibilities as a taxpayer.
